The Next Murkworks Jam: March 26th!
Mar. 1st, 2006 12:50 pmIt has been decided! After considering the answers that came in off my poll post as well as over the murkjam-l mailing list, the next Murkworks Jam has been SCHEDULED!
When: Sunday, March 26th, roughly 2pm until Pie (which will likely be between 4:30ish and 5, depending on how long we play)
Where: MurkSouth.
mamishka has graciously consented to host. ^_^ Prior Jam attendees on my Friends list, please to note that since
solarbird and I no longer live in the main MurkSouth house space, the Jam will be down in the living-room-type space next door to Mimi's apartment! Please to note also that MurkSouth is in the U-district, and sometimes parking is adventuresome there. You may want to plan your arrival time accordingly.
If you need directions to the house and/or pointers on how to find the Jam space, send me email. My address is on my userinfo page, visible to anyone on my Friends list.
What you need to bring: Yourself, instruments, sheet music and/or chords and tabs for songs you might want to play, tuner if you have it, picks, etc. Also, we need a volunteer to bring PIE!
RSVP?: Yes please, so that the aforementioned volunteer will know how much pie to bring. Drop a comment on this post, or email me.
If you can't make this particular Jam, not to fret. If this one goes well there will likely be more! Questions? Sing out!

Date: 2006-03-03 12:12 am (UTC)(Though I will for the sake of full disclosure, since you go out and play in front of actual people, that after nearly three years of us not playing together, we are likely to--what's the word?--oh yes. SUCK. ;)
However, we'll have PIE!)

Date: 2006-03-04 01:24 am (UTC)I'm not too down with improvisation yet myself, though I was able to whip up some simple piccolo parts to "Mari-Mac" and "Jolly Butcher". And though we never played it much, "Rant and Roar" as well. Not something I learned in my own musical background either--I had six years of flute playing in school, and that was primarily focused on the sorts of stuff you play in middle school band, though I went classical for the year and a half or so that I attended the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville. I was always jealous of the people with jazz-type instruments as they got encouraged to improvise solos. :)
Mmmmm pie! Hopefully you'll be able to come to a second jam, though we'll have to see how next month goes since it'll be all weird and stuff with Norwescon, as I mentioned above!
