Friday at last!

Well, it's official--the chilly is here. This morning was cold enough to nip at my ears and for me to feel it even through my heavy jacket. Which is quite a bit colder than it's been in these parts for some time. It was a lot less windy than I'd expected, though--hardly no wind at all, which made it only the subtle sort of cold that creeps up on you and makes you realize only after you're out in it that oh yeah, it's cold. Don't know how long the chilly will hang around, though.
In other news, I have another three-day weekend since Real is closing for President's Day. Woot! On the agenda: hanging out with
mamishka so's she can get caught up on Lost and Battlestar Galactica; writing; cleaning the bathrooms (joy oh glee); more writing; seeing if I can squeeze in reading time to bask in the hotness of David in Heat Stroke; hopefully some musicgeeking; posting of a poll to see about arranging some jamming time; and writing!
But first I have to make it through the rest of today. Most of the company's attending a company meeting this morning, but I hung out with a fellow contractor for a while to try to help her get her machine set up. And we yakked, and it was fun. Every time I talk to her, though, I am reminded I need to work more on my German. (She's from Germany!) And I need to go back to that journal entry I wrote in German and compare
silme711's corrections with what I posted and see if I can learn from 'em. And I need to look at the German poem
hkortekamp gave me a while back as well.
Special note to
ceallaighgirl: I don't know if you saw this post about my jamming group (and where to find our MP3s) or this post with mandolin and bouzouki info, so I thought I'd repost the links!
Special note to
me_fein: Did you catch this post where I posted about finding the bird name info you'd asked me for?

Date: 2006-02-17 08:23 pm (UTC)I don't mind the cold so much, but the dryness is what gets me! I've had to be drinking lots and lots of water and Gatorade. -.-

Date: 2006-02-17 10:45 pm (UTC)I'm in Kenmore, and up on a hill as well, so it gets kind of chilly where I am. There were patches of ice out when I left the house this morning.

Date: 2006-02-17 09:53 pm (UTC)Ooh, I was just talking with my coworker about how I need to catch up on Lost episodes. I've hardly watched this season because I've been so busy, but it looks like I can download the episodes on iTunes, so that makes me happy.
Thanks for posting the links again!

Date: 2006-02-18 02:50 am (UTC)I'm not cool enough to own a video ipod yet. Actually, I'm not cool enough to own any ipod yet. Or even cool enough to own an mp3 player. I'm still living in the dark ages of cds, hehehe. I DO use a PowerBook though, hehe.

Date: 2006-02-18 06:02 pm (UTC)The 70's version was hard on the heels of Star Wars and considered fairly cheesy, though it had a good core story. The new version has been described as scraping the cheese off the original, leaving behind the good core story. ;) It's a lot grittier and makes several noticeable changes to the overall feel of the series, such as making a few of the major characters women instead of men and changing the Cylons such that many of them have now taken on human form.
Highly, highly recommended. If you're interested, the first season is out on DVD and therefore rentable. It starts a little shakily with the original miniseries that the Sci-Fi broadcast, but then gets its feet under it very quickly. The very first official episode of the series, "33", actually won a Hugo. :)
My iPod is actually the second MP3 player I've owned to date... and I like it a lot better than its predecessor, the Nomad Jukebox I used to own. I keep dropping these things all the time, and the iPod's been holding up a lot better to being dropped than the Nomad did! On the other hand, I've also had recurring battery problems with it, the same sorts of problems that a lot of other iPod users have experienced. But I don't know if the same problems have happened with the more recent versions. I like the iPod well enough that I'll probably get another one when the one I've got finally becomes unusable, but the battery thing is an issue, so.
I don't actually have a Mac computer, but
