This is the post where I talked about grabbing potential town or character names out of my bird book. It occurred to me that I was thinking about finding it the hard way in my journal--when what I really needed to do was just check the revision date on my file of names that I'd saved, and then see what posts I made around that time!
For reference, here is the complete list of bird names out of my file, as well: Whimbrel, Dowitcher, Willet, Dunlin, Gadwall, Brant, Sanderling, Merganser, Murrelet, Shearwater, Fulmar, Kittiwake, Godwit, Dotterel, Sora, Harrier, Veery, Vireo, Siskin, Verdin, Redstart, Parula, and Becard.

Date: 2006-02-09 05:52 pm (UTC)I have a text file on my Palm Pilot where I keep track of road names, town names, random words on bulletin boards found as we drive places. Like Mossyrock, I think that's about my fave so far. :) Millersylvania's good too, though. Seabeck.
Somewhere I have a list of last names I collected while working in a campground- there were some awesome names that came through over the course of a summer. I loved the Mennonite ones, especially.

Date: 2006-02-10 05:04 am (UTC)Petrel Vireo and Strix Varia have both served admirably as names for RPG characters around here. Dan always thought it would be amusing to bring in a Rufus Migratorius, too, but the campaign he was playing in ended before he got around to it.
