I'm definitely going to have to buy Real World, and possibly also Red, since both of those albums have ditties on them that I'd really like to hear on a regular basis. Not quite as sure about Absolutely and Breathe, since the Young Dubs seem to have pulled a progression similar to Carbon Leaf in that it sounds like they needed a couple of albums to get their style and character really together.

So far, though, I'm really grooving on "Bodhran", "Banshee", "Real World", "Touch the Sky", "Evermore", and "Waxies Dargle". I really like the lead vocals on "Evermore", and the melody line as well. "Bodhran" and "Banshee" are both bitchin' instrumentals. And in general, I like the Irish touch to a pretty rocking style overall.

Tomorrow: Seven Nations!

I think I have the full catalogs by both Seven Nations and the Young Dubs. If you'd like, I can burn and send them your way!

P.S. The first time I saw 7N and the Dubs was with Great Big Sea. Talk about best freaking concert ever!

Love love love "Waxie's Dargle" although the version i have of it is by The Elvi's- a band split between County Kerry and Whatcom County.

As for 7N, if you can find their first three albums- Old Ground, Rain and Thunder and Old Ground, they come highly recommended in these parts. Haven't liked their later stuff, as they seemed to move into the "Blues Traveler mixed with a touch of Billy Bragg" vein and away from the stuff which made them good.

And, as a previous poster mentioned, you're welcome to borrow the ones we have for a trial listen if they don't intersect with what's available through Rhapsody. You can buy 'em later if so inclined.

I adore the following tracks by the Young Dubs:

"Bodhran", "Salvation", "Brown Dog", and they do a kickass version of "Foggy Dew" too.

They're fantastic for headphones with the sound way up. I'm killing my eardrums, but they'll die happy.

I don't do treadmill much, but Runrig's "An Toll Dubh" (something black, my gaelic-fu is weak) is AWESOME rowing music.
