Miss you, Dad
Jan. 30th, 2006 11:02 amToday would have been my father's 62nd birthday, if he hadn't passed away in 2001. I realized this over the weekend, and got a little pang about it. It still hits me every so often that he's gone, and today, I'm feeling his absence. I wish I could have gotten the chance to tell him I'm pursuing writing now for real--because one of my earliest writing-related memories involves him, too. I have this lingering visual of sitting in the front seat of his car with him--a sort of beat-up convertible. I couldn't tell you the make of it anymore for the life of me, but I remember it had that sort of off-gold color that seemed to be popular for some 60's-era cars.
And I remember telling him about a story I was writing, about a little girl who got spirited off by leprechauns and was made their queen for a day.
I have more to say about what happened over the weekend, but I'll do that in a separate post. This one's for you, Dad.
