Wet, wet, wet, wet, wet...
Jan. 5th, 2006 11:51 amI definitely seem to have hit a magic number with the Synthroid levels. My weight trend has reversed itself, and now I'm heading downward again. I'm dead sure part of this is all the extra walking I'm doing now, too, and I'll need to keep in mind that I can't let this be license to get wacky with the snacks. But it's very encouraging to have this to add to feeling better in general. So now I need to see if I can keep this trend downward, so that if I start losing weight too quickly, I can have my levels checked again for any sign of getting too high.
Finished Defend and Betray, and liked it well enough. I'm trying to decide whether I like this series well enough to continue on with it, though. There is very good characterization here with Monk and Hester and Rathbone, but so far it seems to be Perry's way to have her characters solve crimes by going around and talking to people a lot. While it does get the job done, it's... only somewhat interesting to me as a reader. I like a leavening of action in there to spice things up, and the main characters needing to struggle against peril or personal challenges to win the day.
And I'm waffling about what to read next. Amazon's Recommendations list threw Rhys Bowen's Murphy's Law at me after I told it I've been reading the Sarah Brandt novels, so we'll see how that works out. I still need to finish a few other books I left half-read as well, but so far I haven't honestly felt like going back to the half-finished Angel-Seeker yet. Right now I've had a resurgence of interest in writing, anyway, so my reading is likely to take a big back seat to that for a while. I hope. ;)
Tomorrow night: BATTLESTAR!
And also, it is raining like nobody's business in Seattle. Which will be perfect for getting me into the mood to start off Queen of Souls.
Tuesday evening miles: 1.85
Wednesday miles: 4.0
Thursday morning miles: 1.6
Miles out of Hobbiton: 594.8
Miles out of Rivendell: 136.8
Miles to Lothlórien: 327.2
