2005 in review
Dec. 31st, 2005 02:09 pmSome highlights of the year coming to a close in the next ten hours, here in the Pacific Northwest:
- I turned 36.
- I took up the Eowyn Challenge.
- I finally officially quit MUSHing.
- I had a full manuscript requested by a publisher.
- I attended my second Writer's Weekend, met
seimaisin, and queried agents for the first time in person.
-
spazzkat moved in at MurkNorth.
-
solarbird and I went through a tight financial summer, so we had to miss Worldcon in Scotland.
- I had the second half of my thyroid removed.
- I helped Dara with the newsletter at NASFiC.
- At NASFiC, I got the autograph of one of my very favorite authors.
- Right after finishing recovering from surgery, I got the flu.
- My manuscript got rejected, but it was a fantastic rejection letter.
- My contract at Microsoft ended.
- I made to Rivendell and set out for Lothlórien.
- I made more contacts with local recruiters while looking for work.
- I began another contract, this time at Real.
- I had a very hopeful job interview that will hopefully get me out of contracting, but I don't know yet.
- Our web server got hacked, again, but this time it didn't take us down for several weeks.
- I have wrestled with my weight all year, thanks to thyroid issues and exercise being thrown off.
Looking into next year, I'm hopeful. Things are a bit more stable financially, the thyroid thing should be under control now, and I hope to get more writing work done. Here's hoping.
Happy new year, folks! May it be a good one for you all.
