Yesterday's endoc visit took longer than I liked--when I'm on an hourly wage, a two-hour lunch break isn't exactly ideal--but it did have the result that I am now authorized to go up to 150mcg for my daily dose of Synthroid. After I chatted with the doctor about the experiences I've been having since going up to 137mcg, she seemed to agree with my gut feeling that I was maybe about 90 percent of where I needed to be. Today was my first morning on 150mcg, and I'm not quite sure I can feel a difference. I've noticed feeling a bit more wired every time I've jumped up in dosage before, but this time the jump is small enough that I'm not sure I can attribute today's energy level to that, to improved sleep and more exercise, or all of the above. Also, this dosage means I get to use up my leftover 100's, too, which is good. I disliked not being able to use medicines I'd paid for.

Whatever's going on, though, is also bringing my muse back online. I'm starting to feel ready to tackle writing again, and have even been tempted to try something the last couple of nights. I figure if I come out of furlough earlier than I officially planned, that's probably a good thing!

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat is safely back from Virginia, and in honor of his return we traded stockings last night. But we're holding off on the main gift exchange event till [livejournal.com profile] mamishka can join us! And I shall have to stoically ration my shiny new stash of candy. ;)

The brain is the first to notice increased T4; it may take up to six weeks for the rest of the body to fully notice. But getting the little grey cells moving again is a happy thing.

I think my muse and yours must have taken a vacation together. I've been dry as a desert as far as inspiration lately and now I have a few good ideas in which to apply to this chapter I'm stuck on with my WriMo story.

*hug* Glad to hear you're starting to get back into the swing of things again.

Huh. My Synthroid (levothyroxin) dose is 150 currently, as well. It's been raised a couple of times, too. I think they make a standard practice of starting you out pretty low. Also, at least with my generics, it is an incredibly cheap medication. I think a month's worth only costs a few bucks. Not sure what the price difference is with the brand name versus the generic. Also, mine lists itself as generic for Levoxyl, but my docs use that interchangably with Synthroid. Compared to my Protonix, for instance, which is well over $150/mo, I'm much more okay with wasted l-thyroxin or cortisol. ;)

I'm on 100mcg of Synthroid, and I've been noticing lately that my winter depression still hit me pretty hard. I haven't been sleeping as well, and I've been hungry all the time again.

But I've got a referrel up to Capstone Medical, from Student Health, so I'm hoping this new doc will have some better ideas. I also plan on asking about armor thyroid, and what to do about my goiter i.e. slightly enlarge thyroid. it's a bit scary for me.

Armor thyroid is some natural over the counter supplement that someone else mentioned to me. She'd had hers removed, and was trying it.

I'm hoping it's as simple as needing a higher dose. I'm on Lexapro right now, and still feeling depression. I know I get seasonal affective disorder in the winter, but this shouldn't this bad. I've been wanting to hibernate badly. :(
