Quiet Saturday
Dec. 10th, 2005 02:26 pmMade it over to Target with
solarbird yesterday afternoon, as announced. We bought clothes. It was fun. :) We both got a bunch of socks and some pairs of pants, and I picked up a top that'll look good on me if I can lose another 15 pounds or so. It's a great green color and has some nice leafy embroidery work around the collar. We also stopped at Barnes and Noble, though--where I picked up The Cardinal Rule by Cate Dermody,
mizkit's other writerly self.
Last night was sushi with Joi, and that too was very pleasant; the food and conversation were both quite enjoyable, and it was good to see Joi again.
Today is more low-key, with a bunch of paying of bills and balancing of checkbooks. But between last night and this morning I zipped through Kit's book. It amused me. This was the most non-romancy romance novel I'd ever read. There was plenty of chemistry between the heroine Alisha and two different men, but not a single sex scene or smooch. Plenty of things exploding, though, and Alisha pulling off Daring Feats of James-Bondian Spying. Have to admit--I liked it, and I'll be buying the next one in the storyline when it comes out. ;) In the meantime I need to keep moving through Mississippi Blues, which gets more surreal with every section of the book. And it's a slowish read, too. But I think I'll finish it off.
Tonight: pizza and a viewing of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
More Friday miles: 2.1 (walking)
Saturday miles: 0.1 (walking)
Miles out of Hobbiton: 534.45
Miles out of Rivendell: 76.45
Miles to Lothlórien: 387.55
