Mmm, turkey leftovers

To all my fellow Amurkins, here's hoping that you had a fabulous Thanksgiving and got to spend the time with your loved ones. I'm very pleased to have had a fine, fine Turkey Day here at MurkNorth, where solarbird, spazzkat, risu, and I were joined by mamishka, kingchiron, darthhellokitty, citrine, and cow! Jenga and You Don't Know Jack were played. Tasty food was consumed. Lovely conversation was had. And it was all accompanied by a fine falling rain to clear out the air inversion we've had around here lately, which should improve the air quality considerably.

Anyway, I made a specific point of getting on the treadmill this morning because oof, too much food. Here at MurkNorth we are awash in the expected leftovers, and we expect to be in food coma mode for most of the weekend. Says Dara, "BRAP!"

kathrynt is supposed to come over today for a bad movie marathon, the "Sci-Fi Pictures Original" Mosquito vs. Battlefield Earth. I think we're on to a tradition here. And a plan is in the works to go see the new Harry Potter flick on Saturday!

In the meantime, I am reading my way through Patrick O'Brian's The Fortune of War, finally. More on this when I'm done!

I love the whole bad movie marathon idea! I've never done that before! Also I don't know Mosquito and Battlefield Earth I only know from reputation! LOL

Mosquito is one of those things that have these scary words attached to them: "A Sci-Fi Pictures Original". Most of the Sci-Fi Channel movies are godawful, and kathrynt is extremely fond of them. ;)

OMG!

I actually SAW On Deadly Ground at the movies, but thankfully it was a free 'sneak preview' night (a radio station promotion) and even then, most of the audience walked out! LOL That definitely ranks as one of the absolute worst movies ever made! I think those of us that stayed spent most of the flick ROTFL!

Mosquito!! You know with a name that bad it has to be...bad. *g* Nah...The Thing is very good. Hmm...Alien Express Okay -- I bite. WHAT is Alien Express?

Oh MAN the badness of Mosquito. We just got done and now we're partway into Battlefield Earth. Bad bad badity bad bad.

Alien Express is an actual "Sci-Fi Pictures Original", starring Todd Bridges and Lou Diamond Phillips, which ought to scare you right there. Alien monsters get onto a train and start killing people right and left. Wacky hijinx ensue! ;)

I've been wanting to since the extended version of ROTK came out, but hadn't had the time, or space for it...

I generally find that if I want to do any movie-watching at all, it needs to be in conjunction with something else. Say, working on the book. It's all just a matter of when I feel like allocating the time.

But holidays are good, too. Last Solstice I seem to recollect we spent much of the night watching part of the trilogy. :)
