Good weekend, pretty good Monday too
Oct. 24th, 2005 05:32 pmA rather good weekend, all around. Yesterday, we had a very pleasant afternoon at
jessicac's house, drinking tea, eating tasty snacks, and having lovely conversation. About zombie cake. (I love tea at Jessica's.)
Saturday was the Great Pumpkin Carving, which was quite enjoyable and full of children.
poodlgrl showed up first with her two younguns in tow, and as I had not laid eyes on Milo before, I was quite charmed indeed by her baby boy. He's quite a cutie and looks just like his daddy. He also smiled at me a lot, and was very fond of our snuggly sheepskin rug. Our friends Joby and Abbie showed up a while later with their two little girls in tow, and as happened last year, Isobel, Perrin, and Violet teamed up for quite a bunch of running around the house, carving pumpkins, bugging every grownup in sight for permission to eat the tasty snacks on the table, and asking to play with all our stuffed animals. I was tagged by four-year-old Perrin for a mission to fetch George, our giant gorilla, from the bedroom and bring him downstairs so the children could play with him. This went over extremely well, as George was larger than all three of the girls. They leapt upon him with great glee. Hee. Meanwhile, Annemarie was the last of the grownups to show up, and all of us folks older than five had a pleasant time indeed with the conversation and the food and the making sure that the kids didn't poke anything except pumpkins with the pumpkin-carving tools.
solarbird and
spazzkat didn't actually get to finish carving their pumpkins since all the carving effort went into assisting the kids, but they'll likely be taking care of that problem soon.
Today, on the other hand, I went out on a quest to go to the Polyclinic and get my T4 levels tested, so I can find out next week whether I'm underdosing the synthroid. While I was out I also stopped in the U-district to stock up on bubble bath from our favorite store for that, the Soap Box, so now I have LOTS of tasty-smelling bubble bath. Including a new combination I hadn't tried before: fig, strawberry, and raspberry. The girl at the counter remembered me and Dara, too. She asked after Dara, and remembered when Dara had last shown up to get me a bottle of plumeria and pomegranate.
Tomorrow: the Great Big Bike Ride to Woodinville, to get me The Hard and the Easy! Brace yourselves, folks. My journal is likely to be full of squee tomorrow. ;)
Days until U.S. release of The Hard and the Easy: ONE! ONE MORE DAY TO ALBUM!
Days without a rejection letter from Luna: 4 months, 28 days
Saturday miles: 0.2
Monday miles: 4.1
Miles out of Hobbiton: 435.95
Miles to Rivendell: 22.05

Date: 2005-10-25 01:32 am (UTC)I've had a few sneak peeks, though. Courtesy of GBS's MySpace page I've heard all of "Captain Kidd" and "Old Polina", and courtesy of the video going around the Fishtank of their appearance on Canada AM, I've heard all of "River Driver" as well. So I have a pretty good idea of which of the songs are going to be my favorites already. But I am still deeply anxious to hear them all, and to watch the DVD as well!
