So this is entertaining, in a "What the hell happened that LJ broke in this spectacular way, and is it just me, or what?" kind of way... if you look at my last post in IE, it's really unhappy. It spits up a bit of garbage HTML and keeps trying to refresh the page over and over.
kathrynt noticed something was up first, back when the thread had seven comments, and she added one of her own to make it eight. As of that point, the post was loading okay, only cutting off right after the word Date in the header on
mizkit's first comment.
Then I added another comment to see what would happen, and saw it have to load about nine or ten times before it finally served me the page. Adding ANOTHER comment increased the problem dramatically, such that after well over 100 attempts to refresh--and this is automatic refreshing, mind you, not me hitting the Refresh button over and over--I still couldn't get a coherent load of the post.
If I look at that very same post in Firefox, Opera, or Netscape, it's FINE. It's also fine in IE if I switch over to another style, such as Tranquility II, the last one I was trying to use on a regular basis. So I'm forced to conclude that something wacky is up with LJ's ability to process the custom "annathepiper" style I reverted to, to better match my site till I whip up a brand new custom layout.
Is that wacky, or what? Anybody want to take a stab at diagnosing what might be happening here? The geek intellectual curiosity is invoked!
And oh yeah, that second resume I sent off? It got me another recruiter call, on which I was AGAIN immediately shot down the moment I learned it was for a contract at Microsoft. That was impressive--two of those in one day. Sigh.
But I also got emailed by another Random Recruiter Person totally out of the blue, who apparently found me searching either Monster or Dice, and wanting to know if I was available to discuss a contract. I promptly emailed her back, but never got a reply. We'll have to see if she emails me tomorrow.

Date: 2005-10-13 04:46 am (UTC)AND, I just confirmed that it's just that one wacky post as near as I can tell that's making IE horf up a hairball. I checked several others and found that none of them triggered the same behavior. So it's something weird with that specific post.
