Happy Serenity Day!
Sep. 30th, 2005 07:25 amI'm waffling about whether
mamishka and I will be able to go see this flick tonight, but out of general interest, if any Seattle-area locals are interested in a dinner-and-movie outing to go see the flick tonight, say something!
And for those of you who might not yet have decided whether you need to see this movie, have some reviews:
The Seattle Times: "Serenity": TV's "Firefly" takes wing.
The Seattle P-I: Witty and futuristic, 'Serenity' is an old western at heart.
And, to be balanced, a more reluctant recommendation--although still a recommendation--out of The Stranger. Scroll down the page to find the Serenity review: For God's sake, don't let the hardcore fans smell virgin blood.
The Seattle Weekly also is not sure it'll go over well with non-fans, but likes it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the review: Though Serenity is a bit too cerebral for its own good, that same quality lifts it above the vast majority of recent sci-fi flicks.
EDIT 8:33am: And, gakked from
gamera_spinning, RottenTomatoes.com's amalgamation of Serenity reviews can be found here.
EDIT 9:52am: Turns out Meems and I are going to the 9:20pm showing at the Meridian 16 theater in downtown Seattle. Any locals want to meet up with us there, sing out! Tickets are still available via Fandango, but better buy 'em fast. That's where all the Cool Fans and Browncoats are going, so there may not be tickets long! ;)
