Not sure my heart can stand the strain

We actually have builds to test today. There were problems with them, but they got FIXED. And we have tests IN PROGRESS. RIGHT NOW. Gosh, this whole doing actual work thing? A girl could get used to this, at least if her contract wasn't about to run out. This is not to say I haven't had some time on my hands today, though. In between waiting for build issues to get fixed, I've been slowly whittling away at my LJ comments backlog. So this is why some of you fine folks are getting answers to stuff that's several weeks old. Yep, this is me, Perenially Behind Girl! And I still owe
ravyngyngvar a huge email, too.
I did NOT watch last night's Lost on the assumption that I should wait until
mamishka can come over and see it with me. Now that we have no BSG, gotta get in our new TV togetherness as best we can! So it'll be Lost, Bones, and hopefully Charlie Jade for a while. Instead, I spent most of last night heavily pondering Lament, though I didn't do much in the way of actual writing. Mostly I took a bunch of notes to try to plot out the rest of the way Chapter 15 is going to go; more on this in my next Writing filter post.
I have learned, courtesy of working on my LJ comments catchup, that my current layout is not conducive to long-running threads. It's also not really friendly to posts where anything breaks the expected width of the content, such as over-wide pictures or quiz results. Oops. I'll have to see how much of this I can fix once I have the time.
And I learned, although this is old news, that my former workplace Attachmate has merged with
lyonesse's former workplace WRQ, which was once one of Attachmate's biggest competitors. The merged company is apparently... AttachmateWRQ. Which is less than euphonious. But then again, "Attachmate" by itself wasn't exactly euphonious, either.
And they have no open software testing positions, either. Foo.

Date: 2005-09-29 08:41 pm (UTC)Awwwww! You are such a good friend! I definitely need to see it again, cause I had some craptastic reception at my place ... and besides must tape and do more media socialness with you! Yay! Perhaps Sunday evening? When/if we hit a media lull, I'm going to have to introduce you to Alias. Cause OMG! Good! :)

Date: 2005-09-30 08:58 am (UTC)I could come over on Saturday afternoon and watch stuff or Sunday night? Gotta do some work on Saturday during the day and work at Scarecrow that night and I'm meeting with Ivo on Sunday to do some brain work.

QA jobs
Date: 2005-09-29 09:30 pm (UTC)Our QA department's gone through an overhaul as the former lead left, and we have a new one who seems really good. (The old one, to put it politely, employed aggressive tactics to most aspects of her job.) I'd feel comfortable letting someone take a job in that group now. :-)
Good luck! (Although, I hope for your sake that you don't have to go through job change stress.)
