No builds for Anna

I got sent home today, two and a half hours into the work day, because we have no builds to test. It seems that the servers for all the checkins went down, due to database corruption, and this nixed any new builds being released today as they worked on fixing it. So my boss told me and the other contractor working on the builds to go ahead and go home.
I'd be more pleased about this if I weren't coming off two short weeks in a row, thanks to the Stupid Martian Death Flu. But on the bright side, it will at least afford me extra writing time.
And I did have a pleasant journey home, since it's brilliantly sunny today, and I stopped for a smoothie and a pretzel from Jamba Juice in the U Village, by way of lunch. The smoothie was a "Coldbuster", chock full of orange and peach and other tasty things, and it felt good in my chest going down. The pretzel was sourdough parmesan, and that was good too, in a sort of "my system really likes fiber right now" way.
I finished Pattern Recognition on the way home, and it went in a way I didn't expect, and finished with a surprisingly angst-free ending that I appreciated. Good work, Mr. Gibson.
When I got off at Lake Forest Park, a lady who got off at the same stop confusedly called over to the rest of us disembarking, asking if any of us knew where she needed to be to be on a bus that'd be turning down Ballinger Way. I pointed her at the right bus stop, and chatted with her as we both cut through the Town Center parking lot. She was very grateful, and pleasant to talk to as well. It was nice to be able to help her.
This afternoon and possibly evening: writing. Somebody tell me not to play Nethack until I write at least a thousand words.
Tuesday miles: 2.95 (walking)
Miles out of Hobbiton: 339.95
Miles to Rivendell: 118.05

And yeah, it was a great story, which helped! :)

Date: 2005-09-20 11:04 pm (UTC)There are other Gibson books in the house, but it'll be a while before I get to them; I need to put a decent dent in my own pending To Read titles first. :)
But yay! Book liking in common!
