Wound up leaving work early today; the cough and the headache I was getting from it, combined with general exhaustion, was turning my brain to sludge. Plus we had nothing to do anyway, since we'd never gotten any builds to test, and all I was doing was busywork. So I sent mail to [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat to let him know I was bailing early, caught the bus, and headed to the U district.

I wanted the Montlake walk even though I was fried, hoping that some exercise would help kick my metabolism up. I also wanted to swing by the Barnes and Noble to pick up the Serenity novelization, since [livejournal.com profile] seimaisin had posted about it, and I wanted hot cocoa and a toffee almond bar from Starbuck's. The book acquisition was successful. The cocoa and snack acquisition was not, as both of the Starbuck's in the U village had unacceptably long lines and I was not in a mood to wait. So I trudged on over to the bus stop to read more of Pattern Recognition, and wait for the bus...

...where, to our mutual pleasure and surprise, I bumped into [livejournal.com profile] solarbird on her way home from MurkSouth. So we rode home together and got off at Lake Forest Park Town Centre, where I got that hot cocoa and snack from the Starbuck's there, and Dara got preserves at the Albertson's and a package mailed at the post office, and I popped into the Rite Aid to ask them for a recommendation for a good medicine to take to conquer this goddamned cough. (They told me either Robitussin DM or Delsym. I opted for Delsym. I am not sure that was a good choice yet, having now taken a dose of the stuff and finding myself still cough-y, but this may be my fault since I neglected to actually shake the stupid bottle as per the heavily emphasized instructions on the bottle. Bah.)

Once I got home I got on the treadmill to continue to try to poke at my metabolism and also because I really needed to hear some Great Big Sea, and that got me another mile on the exercise total.

Paul's cooking now, and I'm wiped, and I think I'm going to doze until food is ready.

Friday miles: 3.77 (walking + treadmill)
Miles out of Hobbiton: 333.17
Miles to Rivendell: 124.83
