It's Friday already. This has taken me by surprise, since my internal clock has been completely thrown off by surgery recovery, NASFiC, and then getting smacked upside the head with the flu. However, I am also deeply relieved that it's Friday, as this means I have just another day's worth of work to slog through before I can stagger home and try to get some decent sleep.

Sleep has been hard to come by these last few days, and I'm not sure yet whether it's because of the illness or because of my not yet being adjusted to the synthroid. It's hard to say, since (as I have posted about here before) my sleep cycles always get screwed up when I'm ill. And it's certainly not helping me get to sleep when I cough up a lung every five or ten minutes, either. I've still got this whole thing going on where I feel physically tired but mentally wired, so today and through the weekend, I'm going to be doing my damnedest to stay off the caffeine as well as the Nyquil and Dayquil, in the hopes of working all the extra stimulants out of my system. Lots of chamomile and peppermint tea will be in my immediate future. And as per the advice of my beloved [livejournal.com profile] solarbird, I need to try to resume exercise as well. Hopefully this will help.

In the meantime, work has been oddly paced the last couple of days due to erratic builds. So I went and joined a few more communities: [livejournal.com profile] charlie_jade (though there are hardly any people there yet), [livejournal.com profile] steelewatching (Remington Steele fan community, where I am amusing myself with having started a discussion thread on whether the premise of the show could work for a current-day audience), and last but not least, [livejournal.com profile] greatbigsea, which I hadn't ever joined for no particular reason.

Both on [livejournal.com profile] greatbigsea as well as on the Fishtank, anticipation is high for the forthcoming GBS album. The band's official site is now playing a snippet of one of the songs off the album when you go and load it up. "Captain Kidd" sounds like a fine addition to their repetoire: The Doyle in fine vocal form, his voice all rough and rich, exactly the way I like it. Upbeat tempo. And every last one of the B'ys in full harmony on the chorus. This same song is now available for download off the iTunes music store, it turns out--but only for Canadian customers. I'm going to have to wait for the album myself. Sniff.

Speaking of which--there are interesting rumors going around the Fishtank, too, about a 50-minute DVD being released with this album, showing the songs being performed at Alan Doyle's house, with the whole traditional Newfoundland "Kitchen Party" atmosphere. That sounds incredibly cool, and if this is accurate, all the more reason why I have to have this album NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW.

I wrote last night, hitting my daily quota for the first time in many days, and that was satisfying indeed. Also, it is ten more days until the four-month mark for my manuscript at Luna.

And finally, because it is pretty much Necessary, I offer now this dose of kittenpile cuteness, a link courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] solarbird. Enjoy, all!

Five kittens. In a pile. Stepping on each others' faces. Making huge kitten yawns. That degree of cuteness can cause brain damage. It has reduced me to a gibbering slob.
