Hi folks!

Back online again after my recovery time and my jaunt to CascadiaCon; back at work as of this morning. It's partly a bit of a letdown because I really enjoyed the time away, and partly a relief to get back into a familiar routine. It's also pretty cool to see a familiar face back on the team: Lars, another contractor who's been with this team for a few rounds, going back to before I started showing up. It's a bit of welcome continuity.

I came home early last night from the con, courtesy of a lift from [livejournal.com profile] mamishka; [livejournal.com profile] solarbird stayed later at the convention and was treated to dinner by a member of the concom, and the committee in general gave her the full boxed set of Invader Zim episodes. Extremely cool of them. We were both very pleased. Me, I spent the evening getting caught up on Dead Zone with Meems and having tasty Kidd Valley food, then getting caught up on busywork like dealing with rent and discovering weirdness had happened with my expected paychecks while I'd been gone for the convention. I had to log into my work mail by remote and send a mail to Volt's payroll about that. Goody.

The Synthroid thing so far seems to be working pretty well. I'm more mentally alert throughout the day than I'm generally used to, and even this morning, I've felt more alert than I'm used to--enough that when I had my customary can of diet Mountain Dew, it actually made me feel a little jittery. Which is funny, considering that I chugged a lot more soda than has been normal for me lately at the convention. (Of course, that was all at later hours of the day, but.) Anyway, I was quite alert this morning, and had a nice walk down to the bottom of the hill and back, complete with Great Big Sea harmonizing in my headphones. At least as long as my iPod held out. I made it through about five songs before the iPod sort of whimpered and went, "I can't take it, man, I gotta pace myself! Too much Newfoundlander goodness!" And it died right at the beginning of "Mari-Mac". (My iPod at this point is essentially useless until I can get it another battery. I never know when I take it off the cradle anymore what level of charge it's got in it. Sigh!)

In the meantime, everybody welcome [livejournal.com profile] resqdog51 to my Friends list! I know her courtesy of offline Pern fandom; she was a fellow member of Telgar Weyr before we finally fell apart. I bumped into her at the convention (she was helping out with security), and we exchanged LJ names there. Yay!

Last but not least, I have finally heard back from Nadia Cornier, who answered the followup email I sent her about my Faerie Blood partial that I'd sent her. It turns out that she left the agency she was working with, Creative Media, to found her own agency. Unfortunately they're not handling SF at this time. Bah. So a rejection, but a totally understandable one, and I'm glad to know what's up with that. This leaves Luna, who is now just a couple days shy of matching Tor for longest turnaround time thus far in getting back to me about a submission. Can I make it to the end of the week without a rejection letter? Place your bets!

Days without a rejection letter from Luna: 103
Tuesday morning miles: 1.0
Miles out of Hobbiton: 326.1
Miles to Rivendell: 131.9

...oh, augh. I hadn't heard back from her yet about the full, but I guess that answers my question.

The HOUSE OF DVDs was mostly courtesy Aalyn, head of Publications, whose idea it was. ^_^

Where is Nadia at now? I've yet to send her my manuscript (which may be a blessing in disguise now ... ?), so if you have contact info, I'd like to shoot her a note and see if she's still interested in my romantic comedy!

Sorry 'bout the rejection, sweets. I got one from her too, though she didn't say that was why, but it was the day before she announced her departure from CMA, so I'll just take it as such. I don't much care, but I do wish Nephele would get back to me! *pout*

*hugs*

Sorry 'bout that. Nadia is nice, but she obviously doesn't want to work with SF right now. So, keep your eyes open and see if she starts taking it again. I heard of someone new the other day. I'll see if I can track the info down. Hang in there, it'll happen!

Don't fret. If not this mss then the next one. There's a profound synchronicity to the universe. It provides when you are most in position to deal with the gifts it gives. It'll happen. Because you deserve it. :)

Good luck with the writing!
