Gulf-coasters on my Friends list...

I'm reading the articles about Katrina in between bouts of post-surgery recovery snoozing, and for any of you folks on my Friends list or who might otherwise be reading this who are on or near the Gulf coast... holding out the hope that you guys will be okay. Katrina looks extremely scary, and the reports of New Orleans having to evacuate are disturbing indeed.

Hang in there. And know, whenever you get a chance to see this, that the rest of the country is thinking about you.

Fiance's family has evacuated from Covington, which is just across the lake from NO. I'm in Tuscaloosa, so I'm inland, but she'll dump quite a bit of rain on me.

Kentucky isn't on the coast, but we're promised some spectacular thunderstorms and heavy rain by Tuesday or Wednesday. We need the rain, but not at this sort of expense.

Dara's and my friend Rod, who lives in Frankfort, is supposed to be flying out here on Wednesday to join us for NASFiC. I'm worried about the weather interfering with his flight.

And caligogreywings, while not in New Orleans, is nevertheless going to get smacked with the east side of this storm. Guh. :|
