Looks like I get to have a weekend, finally. To celebrate this, and to celebrate the end of the positively ridiculous amounts of overtime I have been working this week, I intend to go buy myself a treat. This will do double duty as something to do while I'm Recovering From Surgery Girl next week, too!
But I do not know what to get, and my brain, it is mush. So clearly I need your all's input on this, people. Sing out!

Date: 2005-08-20 03:15 pm (UTC)We'll see what happens, though. For last year's thyroid surgery adventures, I spent a lot of time watching Mimi's X-Files DVDs!

Date: 2005-08-20 03:08 pm (UTC)The other thing I'm considering is that my plan is to bike to the Woodinville shopping center tomorrow, and whatever I get needs to be easily tucked into my backpack for the ride back. A DVD set would be more durable than books. Though if my treat budget allows for it, I may get one book!
(I've got plenty of things on my To Read shelf that I haven't touched yet, anyway, not to mention that I've already planned to get caught up on Harry Potter with

Date: 2005-08-20 03:11 pm (UTC)Much will depend on what I can buy at the Woodinville shopping center tomorrow. My plan is to bike there, because I'd like to get in a good bike jaunt before I have lie around for a week being Recovery Girl. So whatever I get needs to a) fit in my backpack, and b) hold up to the rigors of the ride back. A DVD set should do this well.
I'm not sure if there's actually a separate music store in that shopping center or not--I don't remember seeing one! There's a Target and a Barnes and Noble, both of which have music sections, so that may be my only option if my treat budget allows for a Carbon Leaf album. Also, there's the question of whether either place would HAVE any Carbon Leaf! (And any albums I don't already have, as well.)
Also, foo. I forgot to add 1st season Star Trek to that list!

Date: 2005-08-20 02:51 pm (UTC)The only reasons I'm waffling about whether to get that boxed set at all are 1) I've seen all the episodes within the last year, and 2) it's a shorter set of episodes than the other things I'm looking at, and I will have a week of being Recovery Girl to kill. I do want all four of those box sets eventually, it's just a matter of which one to buy now. (On the other hand, the Firefly box would be a bit cheaper than the others, too.)
And bugger, I forgot to include first season Star Trek on that list!
Though we'll see. I'm hoping to take a bike jaunt over to the Woodinville shopping center with

Date: 2005-08-21 03:06 am (UTC)Also, yeah, I have a lot of To Reads I really need to go through, and one of the things I hope to do while I am recovering next week is put a dent in them. After I plow through
TOS is definitely my Trek inclination. But I've seen the Captain Pike pilot, too.
The only problem with TOS, though, is that the boxed sets are over my budget, I think. $50 or under! So probably what's going to happen is that I will buy whatever the Target's DVD section has and that's cheapest (hopefully that'll be Firefly) and ONE of the books off my list. :) That'll satisfy my budgetary constraint AND the need to comfortably carry the items in my backpack on the way home.
