Surgery info update

solarbird has just relayed to me that we've gotten the call with my surgery checkin time for this coming Tuesday: 6:30am, for surgery at 8:30am. I am to eat NOTHING the evening before, and as I recall, I won't be allowed to wear my contacts the morning of the surgery, either.

Guh. Checking last year's writeup, I see that the checkin time then was 7:00am. Plus, last year we were still at MurkSouth. This year we're at MurkNorth and the checkin time is earlier. So we'll have to get up even earlier. GUH. It's a good thing I'll be spending all of that day zonked out, because I'm going to need the sleep.

eyeballs are prefered nekkid...
it is best to not wear them the day of surgery, and for at least 48 hours afterward, as the detox from surgery can be thru tears, and can contaminate the lens, AND can also cause lens sensitivity...

They let me put my lenses on after the procedure was over last year, and when I was in my room for the night. That let me pass the time by reading. :)

Unless things have dramatically changed with this doctor's standard procedures, I expect that the same will be the case this year.

they did?? our hospital has a policy that they warn folks about contact lens issues before surgery. they do say that if your glasses script is old or drastically different than contacts, that you can wear them, but it isn't rec'd! wow!

and yes, much prayers being said for your safety :)

Doublechecking what I wrote last year, I see that I didn't actually mention contacts after the surgery was done--but I did read, and I'm at least somewhat certain that I had my contacts on at the time. But well, we'll see what happens. I'm pretty sure they let me put them in, but things were pretty fuzzy at the time. In the mental sense, not the visual!
