So my beloved [livejournal.com profile] solarbird pointed me at the link for the writers' workshop that they're going to be having at NASFiC, a.k.a. CascadiaCon, this year. I am vexed, for it would be fun to participate in a workshop of this type.

However, it is asking for participants to read the works of the others in advance and be prepared to offer critiques at the convention. The deadline for submissions is the 19th--and my surgery is the 23rd. There is no earthly way that I am going to be able to construct coherent critiques of the works of others while I have a system full of Percocet; I will be lucky if I write any coherent words of my own.

I can see myself now:

"This work doesn't have enough poodles! And also, zzzzzzzzzzz... *thud*"

"You with the jam on page 8! Um, um, um.... Belgium."

All this said, if any of the writerly folks in the Puget Sound area who are considering going to this convention are interested, you might want to check this workshop out. It sounds like it could be fun. Also, even if I'm not at the workshop, you can say hi to me at the convention!

but...but...those are sound critiques!

Every work needs more poodles!

And the one with Jam on page 8...of COURSE Belgium!

And furthermore...FISH!

(paid for by the american surrealists society)

"Better living through purple fish engine."

Personally, I'd love to get a critique saying I needed more poodles. just for the record. :)
