What made me succumb tonight? Discovering that they had a small Alan Doyle page, and that it was in fact wrong on two counts--it claimed he plays keyboards for Great Big Sea, and someone had actually taken out a prior, correct reference to his playing the bouzouki. I did my duty as a GBS fan and fixed this.

Also, it referenced Alan's connections to Russell Crowe and 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, but it got the name of the band wrong (calling it 'Thirty Feet of Grunts'). I fixed that, too!

While I was at it, I went and fixed the general page on Great Big Sea, which also incorrectly listed Alan with keyboards as one of his primary instruments (I'm actually not certain if he doesn't play keyboards in the studio tracks, I'd have to look that up) and only listed Alan as doing vocals. I added lead vocals in for both Alan and Sean, and backup vocals for the other B'ys.

I feel all loyal-GBS-fannish, now.

Yeah, that's a neat thing, isn't it? I've done some editing on there as well.

Nifty! There are few things I'd want to actually go to the trouble of correcting, but I couldn't pass up correcting the little Alan page. I might correct typos as I find them, though, now that I have the ability. And because random typos annoy me. :)

One thing you should do if you finally get an article page the way you like it is to save a copy of it in your own text file in case someone comes along and deletes or totally changes everything. It's a pain to type in all those formatting codes if you want to restore something. Of course, you probably won't have to worry about Alan's page being tampered with too much! *g*

I went over to the Fishtank and told all the GBS fans there that the B'ys are on Wikipedia now, which pleased many. We'll have to see if any of the greater-GBS-geeks-than-I-am jump in and add more data, especially the fans of Mr. Hallett.
