Dates to watch out for
Jul. 21st, 2005 10:37 amThe word on my thyroid surgery: we're looking at August 23rd, which is the earliest that Dr. Stickney could get me in. It seems she's going to be out in early August, which shot down my expectation that we could do the procedure then. Foo. The date's kind of chancy--it's uncomfortably close to when my and
solarbird's insurance shifts over to a new system, and it's also uncomfortably close to NASFIC, at which Dara and I are committed to work. (As she does at Norwescon, Dara has agreed to do the convention's daily newsletter, and I've committed to helping her since it'll be a larger undertaking than at Norwescon.)
So it looks as if I'll be in to work on Monday the 22nd, then take the rest of the week as surgery and recovery time. Then I'll take my week of paid leave starting Monday the 29th, to cover the rest of my recovery time and then the beginning of the convention. Then the convention itself will wrap around to Monday the 5th, which is Labor Day, when I wouldn't be working anyway. So I'd return to work on 9/6. I'm awaiting the green light on this plan from my boss, though I don't think it'll be a problem. My only real worry is going to be whether I'll have enough energy to help Dara with the newsletter at the con!
In the meantime, no rejection letters yet. Doublechecking my LJ posts from January, I see that the benchmark Luna has to beat is 3 months, 13 days, which is how long it took Tor to give me the second rejection for Faerie Blood. Will Luna get me a rejection letter before my surgery? Place your bets!
Days till my thyroid surgery: 33
Days without a rejection letter from Luna: 56
Days without a rejection letter from Nadia Cornier: 38
Monday miles: 1.3
Tuesday miles: 1.4
Miles out of Hobbiton: 251.15
Miles to Rivendell: 206.85

Date: 2005-07-21 09:29 pm (UTC)And I expect I'll have to do a lot of mid-day napping, as I did after last year's surgery. Whee!
