Attention, pinkdormouse: don't know if you noticed, but dr_pretentious has responses to your pitches on my last pointer post, here.

Also, lots of fabulous input has come in from technosage on the original pitch practice thread. She's answered a lot of folks' posts there, and has good things to say in general. So I recommend y'all skim the thread again for her commentary, even the stuff that might not be specifically addressed to your own pitches!

All hail the power of the Internet, and of Livejournal, and of the cross-section between these and the fine folks who show up at Writer's Weekend! :) Yet more reasons I'm gratified to have attended this year.

I hate to use over used words, but the writer's weekend must have been very stimulating. I keep looking in my area for something like that, because most of the time, when you have a form of writer's block, all you really needed to do was talk it out, vocalize it, and see if it all makes sense. I'm in the 6th and 7th chapter, and it is getting so involved! I am having to go back and rewrite some scenes so it can/will explain a future scene.

I also find it amusing how many people I am killing off, I need to not write when I have pms, lol.

It was a very stimulating experience indeed, not only for myself but for the others I hung out with during the course of the weekend. If you ever get an opportunity to attend this conference or one like it, I cannot recommend the experience highly enough.

Next best thing, if you can find it: online writer groups. I think that given all the recent writing-related activity on my journal I may try to jumpstart my own writing community, scuzzboppers. You're welcome to join that if you like, though right now it doesn't see much traffic at all.

Do you find that rewriting things to fix them as you go works for you? I find that hard, myself. I have to take notes on what I want to fix later and then come back around and do it on the next draft--otherwise I'll get too distracted from writing the actual new words I need.
