Having just recently ordered it via Netflix, [livejournal.com profile] solarbird, [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat, and I finally just now got around to seeing The Day After Tomorrow.

My word, that was bad.

The movie's ONLY distinguishing factor!

Paul was convinced that the one wolf got nerd poisoning.

You mean bad bad? Heh.. I thought it was good CGI candy on the big screen, with full sound, but not a great drama. I was in the bathroom, though, during that scene where the big boat comes crashing in to the streets of New York.

Oh, that's right. The ending was terrible.

I always get this movie mixed up with "The Morning After" and then "28 Days Later" so I had to ask [livejournal.com profile] zenbastard "is this the movie with zombies or the one where the US gets nuked?" and he replied "this is the global warming one with wolves" and I said "aaaAAAAahha."

Don't forget Cancer Boy! Because no metaphor is too crude for these guys.

"Come back, meaty humans! We are not wolves, we are cute kittens! Cute kittens who have eaten lots of kitten chow so are not at all hungry!"

It was the wolves that were the critical mistake. And worse, they were *CGI* wolves. Buh.

I agree. Those wolves needed serious help. They should have used Malemutes. Or even German Shephards with a dye job.

I think even humans in bad wolf costumes would have been better, honestly... And I'm sure someone in furry fandom would have even done it for free! :)

I don't think there were many decisions made in that movie that weren't critical mistakes.

We ordered it on Netflix for a family yell-at-the-screen movie (kind of like do-it-yourself MST3K). That way it was fun. I lost my voice, it was so bad!

This reminds me of the Norwegian movie Dis (bottom #34 on IMDB). Supposedly a deeply romantic love story, written, produced, directed and starring former music video director Aune Sand. I doubt very much that it is the highest grossing Norwegian film ever, as one IMDB reviewer claimed (that honor has to go to Flåklypa Grand Prix, which deserves it), but it did pack full houses for a while.

Then Mr. Sand realized that people went to laugh at how bad it was, and pulled it.

Then he probably found out that he could do with the money, and let it out again, but by then the attraction had gone. It's really tough to find now.

I've never seen it myself. Nor have I seen The Day After Tomorrow. I keep thinking I'd like to see it one time I've got nothing better to do, but there always is. Like playing solitaire. :-)

Just like Deep Impact, you mean? After seeing a lot of destruction in the USA only, President Morgan Freeman gave a speech: "Millions of people died in Europe too, but enough about that. Look at this great new Capitol building." :-)

At least Armageddon made no pretense of being anything more than a popcorn movie. :-)

I didn't see Armageddon either, until it was on TV.

Unlike The Day After Tomorrow, Deep Impact had all the DitNoHD in the first three quarters or so of the movie, leaving the actual disaster to near the end, with the president's speech being the epilogue. Of course, my quote was a cynical paraphrase. :-)
