Brief weekend review
Jun. 27th, 2005 10:14 am+0: General welcomes go out to
bloody_keri and
the_epic, joining in on reading my journal!
+1: In honor of the birthday of
mamishka, a huge honking crowd of us went out for tasty Indian food last night at Cedars in the University District, followed by a viewing of Batman Begins at the Neptune theater. I was very gratified to see that the movie was quite, quite good. It was also fun to see the Serenity trailer on a big screen, finally. :D
+/-2: Saturday,
solarbird and
spazzkat and I got caught up on the last two episodes of the new Doctor Who. To which I have this to say: WAAAAAAAAAH no more Christopher Eccleston *sniffle*. (Also, DAMN, this season went out with a bang.)
+/-3: Friday night, we finally got around to watching Team America now that Paul's signed up with the Netflix Movie Fairies. Parts of it were funny but mostly, I found it pretty dull. It lacked the brilliant sort of over-the-topness of the South Park musical.
Sunday miles: 1.4
Miles out of Hobbiton: 185.4
Miles to Rivendell: 272.6

Gah, I know. Last night I downloaded the 50-second trailer for the series as a whole that aired before everything started, with Christopher Eccleston being all, "D'you want to come with me?" at the beginning, while staring straight into the camera -- and I involuntarily burst out, "YES!" ;)

I have got to admit, Mr. Eccleston does have quite the way about him. The new guy's going to have to work hard to measure up. ;) I do find myself wondering how much of a personality transition we will have with this regeneration, too--since I've seen enough of prior Doctors to know that sometimes a regeneration can hugely reset the Doctor's personality. Though he seemed to have a really easy one this time around!
