These were all links to news articles I found yesterday and which really rather amounted to a day of 'Cool news of the large and furry' variety. I had to share!

Lions defend a beaten girl in Ethiopia. DUDE. If I were that 12-year-old kid, and managed to get away from my abductors, I would totally want to be guarded by lions. I hope that girl grows up to be a lion conservationist!

It takes an infinite number of monkeys to produce Shakespeare, but only one to create art that sells for over $25,000.

And in local news, Issaquah garbage bins no match for bears.

Great stories - it's nice to be reminded that there's news about the non-human world, too (if only its interactions with humans).

Indeed! I also thought that this story about dolphins learning to use sponges as tools was also pretty effing cool. :)

The lion story is amazing.

And as for the bears -- phhhhttt. ;) Good for the bears. I wish them much luck in their future garbage-hunting endeavors. (Suffice it to say that all the development up there? Is scary.)

I am totally awed about the lion story, yeah. The idea of lions guarding a child for half a day is stunningly mythical!
