And now, as quoted out of the Amelia Peabody series, I present for you the case for why, should these delightful books ever get made into movies, Russell Crowe should have the role of Emerson:

I can't see Minnie as Peabody. I just can't... The thought gives me the heebies. Unfortunately, I haven't got any other suggestions. =(

The only other actress that's even pinged vaguely onto my radar is the woman who played the lead in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns; I don't know her name. But she certainly had the right kind of attitude.

Though really, a talented unknown might well fit the bill here, as for Ramses. :)

I must admit it's the first thing that leapt into my brain the first time I saw her in the first of those two movies. :) At least playing that character, she had exactly the right combination of intellect and spirit!
