Zzzzzzzzzzz
May. 23rd, 2005 09:24 amYesterday was another day of catching up. I spent most of it doing two months' worth of checkbook balancing, which was yet another thing that had fallen by the wayside while I was dealing with getting the book prepared to send to Luna. Much duller than working on a manuscript, but hey, it does need to get done every so often!
I got caught up on the two episodes of the new Doctor Who that I'd missed. Man oh MAN, the episode with the Dalek was good. So far this new Doctor is batting a near-perfect game, and I think that this new series may have actually pushed me over into active Doctor Who fandom. I'm finding myself way more interested in and sympathetic to this Doctor than I've been to any of the previous ones.
solarbird and I went to the University District Street Fair, as she's already posted about. It was odd to actually have to drive to the Street Fair, though it would have been odder to actually miss it. It was just us, but we had a pleasant time buying tasty food and occasionally hiding from the rain. We also ducked into the U Bookstore looking for Kit's new book, since Urban Shaman started showing up early on the shelves in Alaska, but they did not have it yet. (They did have at least two other Luna books in the SF section, though, which was good to note.) Barnes and Noble down in the U Village didn't have it either.
Polly has taken well to the samples of wet cat food I gave her, though she's still eating kind of slowly. I found at least half of her food from last night uneaten by the time I got up this morning, and it was starting to dry out, so I had to redampen it for her. Mmm, tasty scent of wet cat food!
This morning, my brain is very sloggy. This may be partly due to the sunlight waking me up early again, and partly due to my brain going "OH THANK GOD" now that Faerie Blood is out the door and I don't have to be in editing overdrive. Tonight, I resume normal writing activities as I start on Chapter 12 of Lament of the Dove.
Also, what was my subconscious thinking, to throw me an annoying dream about having an argument with someone on Two Moons about whether or not they had the right to kill off one of my NPCs even though I'd retired from the game? Perhaps it was a cautionary dream about why it's a good thing I'm not MUSHing any more.
And I read more of Julie Czerneda's Survival on the way in to work. It is probably a measure of how much I get absorbed in her writing that for the second time since I started reading this book on my morning commute, I missed my usual stop and had to get off at the next one along the route.
Friday miles: 0.5
Sunday miles: 1.9
Miles out of Hobbiton: 118.91
Miles to Rivendell: 339.09
