Tuesday stuff
Apr. 19th, 2005 09:34 am+0: The new Russell Crowe ditty is out; yay! I downloaded it last night off iTunes, which was the first time I'd ever downloaded anything off iTunes, and it was very quick and painless. Only .99 for the one song, too, which was less than I was expecting given prior reports--but hey, maybe the prior reports were listing the expected price in Aussie money! The song's a nice one, sweet and gentle of melody, and more lyrically and rhythmically complicated than anything I've heard Mr. Crowe sing yet. It's making a positive splash over on the OKP, too, as these lyrics are the first of the ones that Alan Doyle helped write. ^_^
-1: It's Tuesday and my hours for last week are not yet approved. Grf. I understand my lead having car issues and stuff, but I'd like to get my paycheck on time, y'know?
+/-2: Performance testing is continuing, though it's a very dull form of testing to run. I've been ID'ing several issues involved with this area of testing, too, and it'll be interesting to see if we can get these things fixed before somebody is hired to take over the position of the guy who was running these tests before. The vexing part is, when he left Borg, he took all his clues with him. So I strongly suspect this stuff will have to be rebuilt from scratch.
-3: Speaking of that open position, my lead hasn't yet gotten me the job codes I need to apply for that guy's position, either. Grf.
-4: One of the drawbacks of working in a computer lab rather than my own office: when the maintenance guys come in and get into the ceiling and rearrange everything all around the area where you're working, and get plaster dust raining down on the keyboards and the benches and the chairs and all, it makes working in that area of the lab annoying. Also, the work they've been doing down on that bench has made that area an arctic blast zone. So I've been hanging out at my mail machine at the opposite end of the lab, and running down to the servers I'm actually testing on when I need to launch the next set of tests. Sigh.
+5: I did a bit of a weights workout last night, to try to offset my reduced walking lately and also because my arms rather needed it. I could feel them being thankful. This will also hopefully slowly get me back into the habit of playing with the weights to begin with.
+/-6: I'm out of the special hydrogen-peroxide/neutralizing disc stuff for cleaning my contacts. (It was a sample size bottle, so I'm not surprised to run out this quickly.) I'll have to decide now whether I want to keep up cleaning my lenses this way; it does get them awfully clean, and I approve of that. Extra buckage, though. So I'll have to mull it.
-7: I'm trying to taper off on the Trazodone, as I've previously mentioned, and I'm starting to have erratic sleep again. Grf. This morning I woke up well before the alarm clock went off, though I do actually feel okay in terms of lack of sleepiness. I'm kind of wound up, though, about getting the book done--so this may be contributing to it. We'll see how easily I rest once I get this stupid thing done! And we'll see how much work I can sneak in on Chapter 16 while these perf tests are running today.
