This just in from my sister wildshadowstar: our grandmother has had a heart attack. Gah. At least it doesn't seem to be severe as these things go; she's sitting up and eating. So, distressing, but not 'I have to fly to Kentucky in 72 hours' bad.

Let's hope it stays that way.

Thanks, hon. She's a tough old bird--she's in her 80's now and this is actually the first heart attack she's had, at least that I've ever known about. I've also just gotten a call from my sister-in-law who says that she's like fifth in line in the ER to get looked at, so she's in stable condition and not in a worrisome state so far as they're concerned. My uncle (her son) is with her, and my oldest brother is going to go see her as well.

I'll post updates as I get 'em, indeed. My sister-in-law remembered to call me tonight, which pleases me; I told her to please call or email if she gets more news.

Indeed. She's a tough old lady... she's in her 80's, and yet, this is the first heart attack I've ever heard about her having. Apparently it was a very mild one, as well, and they're not even certain exactly when it happened; my sister-in-law, who just called me a little while ago, says that the ER thought it happened some time in the last five days.

And apparently she also has some fluid in her chest which they think is indicative of pneumonia; that fluid is apparently what gave her enough chest pain that she finally gave in and went into the ER. She's like that--tends to ignore problems until they get serious. I'm just glad she actually contacted family members and spread the word as to what was going on; she's very independent, too.

Oh Lord. *hugs* I'll be thinking on you and your family – grandmothers are too precious to lose. (The fact that she's eating is REALLY good. When mine was sick near the end she didn't eat anything for days and didn't tell anyone... that was heart trouble too, though not the same thing.)

Thank you very much. Yeah, that's exactly how my grandmother is--tends to keep any little troubles to herself, and only if they actually get serious does she see fit to stir herself and get to a hospital. My sister-in-law, who just called me, was actually surprised and relieved that she saw fit to call the rest of the family and let us all know what was going on.

Having been through the "Come home NOW, please!!!" call for my own Grandmother, I feel for you and yours.. I'm relieved to know that, despite the scare, she seems to be doing better. I hope that she continues to improve, as well!! *snug*
