Yay! Friday!
Jan. 14th, 2005 12:36 pm+0: I am completely songvirused by Jonathan Coulton's Skullcrusher Mountain. I am particularly giggling over the second verse ("you like monkeys, you like ponies / maybe you don't like monsters so much") and the third one ("I've been patient, I've been gracious / and this mountain is covered with wolves"). I am amused that these two bits occur in exactly the same part of the melody.
Also, Mandelbrot Set is almost as funny. But I like it more for the feel of cross between Schoolhouse Rock and Tom Lehrer's "New Math" that it's got going on. ^_^
solarbird bought his CD, since it was cheap. Recommended for amusing geek fun, and also, one of the other songs on it almost comes across like Barenaked Ladies.
+1: It's official--Carbon Leaf is also songvirusing me. I need more of their albums. Especially if that'll help 'em do more shows with Great Big Sea. ;)
+2: Anybody out there in the New York area who might be interested in being an editorial assistant? Go check out
alg's post about Tor hiring for that very position here.
-3: My tuner is broken. Stupid tuner. I can't tune my bouzouki or my guitar very well without it. (Dara has a tuning fork, which I need to try; I don't necessarily trust my ear yet when it comes to tuning my instruments without electronic assistance.) But it'll require soldering snapped wires together, which'll probably take me forever... though it'll probably be cheaper than getting a new tuner.
+4: I WILL bang my active bug count down today. Dammit.
-5: I owe my LJ another book review post. Still having trouble summoning up the interest to get through The Poyson Garden, but at least I've now read two more of
kathrynt's books and I can return them when we have poker this weekend at the Murk! Somebody poke me to get that review post done.
+6: Somebody poke me to make sure I get on the treadmill again today, too. I feel pretty good physically after doing it last night, and I need to get back into the habit!
