-0: On the way home from work this evening, I snapped the silver chain on which I wear my seven-pointed star. It got all tangled up in my scarf when I was trying to rearrange it and my purse and to get my badge out of the way--this is what I get for wearing the badge on the same chain, too. I almost lost the star itself, too, till I saw it on the ground at my feet.

-1: I got two boxes of fresh checks today, and discovered to my annoyance that Bank of America has pulled a new one in its long history of check misprintings. [livejournal.com profile] solarbird's name is spelled letter-perfect, including the apostrophes and the proper lower-case status of all letters following them, and our new address is correct as well. BUT MY NAME ISN'T THERE. At all. This is particularly annoying given that it's a jointly held account and I'm the one who placed the order for the checks in the first place. But at least I'll get replacement checks for free.

-2: We still have no snow. It can hold off till after [livejournal.com profile] mamishka and [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat come over tonight for present exchanging and get home safely again, but after all the buildup on weather.com and noaa.org about snow this weekend, there should damn well be SNOW.

Can it hold off until I get my mom to the airport tomorrow morning? Then we can have LOTSA SNOW.

Last ngiht depending on which NOAA page I typed my zip code on, I managed to get three completely different forecasts. It was... less than convincing.

Really, you can have some of the snow we got... I don't mind parting with it...

The "special notice" says the big chunk of cold air expected to head due south is heading southeast instead. I guess I don't mind missing out on highs in the 20s all that much, though after 4 Chicago winters that doesn't seem all that cold any more.

The worst I've been in was a day in Chicago where the HIGH temp was -13F. It was a "record low high." And a water main near the music building had burst and that quadrant of campus lost power. I'd taken the last bus in to school, so I had to walk back home again. *shudder*
