+0: I see a new person has Friended me. Hi there, [livejournal.com profile] minaloush.

+1: Cold out this morning, cold enough that not only was there a bit of ice on our front steps, there was also ice on the lake. I was stunned enough by that that I didn't really register what I was seeing at first, but damned if that wasn't ice I saw on the bits of Lake Washington that come in close to Bothell Way. It can't have been very thick, surely, but it can't have been anything but ice what with the white sheen over much of the water and the glimpse I got of what looked like plants or leaves unmoving in the middle of the white.

+2: I have been writing the last couple of days, but only a scattered paragraph or so here and there. It's about all my muse has been able to manage, but it is at least SOMETHING. Because damned if I'm going to let election events get in the way of my book.

+3: [livejournal.com profile] mamishka came over last night, and although our plan to watch Firefly episodes got unexpectedly thwarted by my remembering that [livejournal.com profile] solarbird has taken our DVD player in for repair, we did have a nice time watching Superman: The Movie in belated honor of Christopher Reeve. We followed it up with an old episode of "Lois and Clark", which was fun too. Just amusing in general to have two Superman portrayals back to back. ;) And I'm wondering how much longer it'll be before the visual joke about Supes not being able to use a phone booth won't be gotten by a viewer--and how many younger viewers won't get young Lana Lang asking young Clark over to play some records. :)

+4: I have new gloves. They are cheap gloves, purchased at Rite Aid, but they are a bright shade of purple. They keep my fingers warm, and unlike my last pair of gloves, one of them does not have a badly placed hole right on the index finger. This is a distinct improvement. Now all I need to do is get a jacket that doesn't look so shabby.

Bleh! It's cold here, as well.. Our first heavy rain + cold day of the season.. it was just yesterday that we were in the 60s and the day before, the 70s. It's not fair! Wah! ^_^

Also, have you managed to catch any episodes of the new "Superman" series, "Smallville"?

Oh yeah. The plot has been twisted ALL OVER the place. The "Monster of the Week" thing died off after season two or three (not sure which). They haven't really done that general plotline overly much. I think that last night's was just such an episode..but only because there've been some SERIOUSLY "Screwed Up Things" happening on the show. Oh yeah.. there have been some major plot twists that are way off from what we know as "canon" for Superman. Oh yes. Definitely. But it's REALLY quite nifty to see this "new vision" of the character and storyline!

Snow.. I don't mind snow at all. I mind cold+rainy or cold+rain+sleet=ice.. But snow -- I like that. :) It's just a shame that Maryland isn't a state that handles snow very well. *laugh*

SE PA doesn't handle snow very well either... I lived in the Harrisburg-York Area for a few yrs in the 90s and always laughed when they closed everything down for just an inch or two of snow... Though I was laughing out my ass when the blizzards of '93 and '96 hit... I grew up in the snowbelt of NW PA, and am accustomed to snow... just don't like it much...

*grin* I lived in State College for about 9 years and at least one up in Williamsport.. I'm originally from Lafayette, Indiana and have also spent time in northern Illinois as well as Edwards, CO (just outside of Vail, CO).. So yeah.. I am pretty comfy in snowy environments. It never fails to amuse me when I see people panicking at the first flake that falls from the sky and you see at least 4 or 5 snow plows racing to scoop it up! ;)

I grew up in Cambridge Springs and Edinboro (where I lived most of my life), and live in Erie now... Snow has become a way of life with me... Just don't like shovelling it, or walking to work in it... Living right on the pond sucks too... especially when the wind blows right across the lake... brrrrrrr

Yipes. That would definitely make for a chilly day, indeed! *shivers at the thought*

Ever try walking to work/school/where-ever with icicles forming in your hair and over your eyes because the yucky cold stuff was blowing in your face? NOT fun... ::shivers:: at least I don't work today, so I won't be walking home from work in it tonight...

Hoo boy are they ever.. Wanna hear the "juicy" part of the last episode?

Err.. Unfortunately, yes. It is -not fun- at all. *shudder* I am glad that I now live far enough south that such an occurrance should be quite rare, indeed!

This fall has been weird, for the MD area. We are warmer than we were this time, last year. It's a little bit strange, I think!

This has very little to do with Jor-El, actually!

More to do with what happened with Lionel Luthor..
