I'm still at Writer's Weekend, but I just now got the message from
solarbird that our primary server, lodestone, got hacked last night. Murkworks.net is therefore completely hosed for at least four days, if not longer. Full details are available over on Dara's journal here.
The biggest impacts on this:
1) Dara says the user data impacted is that everybody's index.html files have been replaced by hacked versions. I can pull these off a backup but the last backup I made was in April (thanks to everything else going on in my life ;P ), so while I'll be able to get those files they won't be current. So those of you with web pages on the system will want to inspect the files once I recover them. ALSO: I WILL NOT be able to do this before Dara and I move. And it will be VERY LIKELY that it may well take longer, due to my impending surgery on the 3rd.
2) Twomoonsmush.org, all tribal sites hosted on our server (both on my personal account and on other accounts such as "sorrows" and "catelf") are also down until further notice. So are the TM-related mailing lists we host, such as tm-staff and lostholt-l. Our site admin
blargh is already aware of the situation, but please be advised that this will probably impact these resources for the next few weeks minimum.
TWO MOONS PLAYERS and STAFF: If Traest has not already put out the word, please convey word to others on the game about the status of the server. Several TM players do in fact have personal accounts on our server, so these accounts WILL HAVE BEEN IMPACTED. They will not be accessible until further notice.
3) All our other mailing lists have also been impacted. This includes lexfa-l. Those of you on my Friends list who are in LexFa, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD to other members of LexFa. Y'all may want to be using the Yahoo! backup version of the list until further notice in order to keep in touch.
4) Murkworks MUSH is still up, as it lives on a different server, but you will want to access it via door.murkworks.net 4201 if you want to log on.
5) My primary email address, obviously, is screwed; so is my primary copy of my web page. My backup email address and my backup web page on drizzle.com are still up and running. Check my LJ Info page if you need that data.
To everyone with data on our system, a thousand apologies for this. :( Dara and I will try to get everything back up and running as quickly as we can--though we ask your patience as we try to juggle this along with moving AND impending surgery AND my being at this writer's conference AND trying to find out whether Adobe is going to call me in for a job. GUH.

Date: 2004-07-24 09:41 pm (UTC)I've also deleted your SSH keys into the blargh.com server, since I didn't know where they were stored.
Helped Dara a bit today with some stuff, hope you guys get going again soon.

Date: 2004-07-24 10:09 pm (UTC)Do you still have mirrors set up for the TM related mailing lists? If you haven't activated them already, can you, please?
Also, please make sure that Shendia and Kaer are both directly informed about the outage, since they are the keepers of the Sorrow's End and Catelf pages which both live on the system on their individual accounts? The other individual tribal accounts I had been hosting on the system have been long defunct.

Date: 2004-07-25 08:56 pm (UTC)That said, we will definitely need any willing hands to help us move stuff. Watch my and Dara's journal for updates on this--we'll be probably having a huge 'please come help us move' party and be springing for pizza and such for anybody who shows up.

Date: 2004-07-25 10:33 pm (UTC)will the moving party be on the weekend, or post-op? perhaps i would be more use after the 4th. i can pack, cook, and clean, leaving Dara freer for spouse-tending.

Date: 2004-07-28 01:25 am (UTC)a word of warning from someone who's had seven general anesthetics (though the one when i was 2.5 doesn't exactly count): being loopy on pain meds may be of secondary importance for the first 72 hours or so, for the following reason.
if your GI tract has *any* sort of tendency towards nausea and other assorted tantrums, ask your physician(s) for preventative dosing of the REALLY GOOD anti-nausea drugs. generals tend to do that to some groups of folk (please God/ess i never need another) and with stitches or some other form of repair to your neck you abso-fucking-lutely do NOT want to go there ...
