Well, THIS was unexpected

I sent out a small handful of resumes over the last few days, trying to send out early feelers for job leads before my contract expires at the end of this month.

This morning, I got a nibble back on one of them. The recruiter wants to arrange a phone call with her team's lead SDET. Eek. O.O The difficulty with this is that, well, I have to WORK during the day, and it's a bit of a tricky proposition to juggle that with a job interview.

I've asked her if they can do a 9-9:30am or 4:30pm-5 timeframe, so I can adjust my schedule accordingly. Here's hoping they can do that--I'm not sure if I can really do anything besides that, what with not having my own phone during the day and not really easily being able to get home across the lake without a car.

We'll see if it comes to that--thanks! I'm waiting back to see if I can get a 9-9:30 or 4:30-5 time frame. If I can do that, I can arrange my work hours to stay ridiculously late or come in ridiculously early. As long as I am in the lab during the core hours of 10-4, I should be good.

I want to avoid having an interview during my work hours if I can, hence asking the recruiter if they can do a 9-9:30 or 4:30-5 time frame... if I do that, then I can adjust my hours to fit that and either stay ridiculously late or come in ridiculously early. In the past I've used empty conference rooms for that kind of call. My supervisors have always been understanding that I needed to line up something new when the current contract expired. As long as it's done discreetly and I work in the time, there's not been a problem.

I would have pursued this option, perhaps, if it had become necessary. :) Happily I was able to get a timeframe early enough that I can do the phone interview from home and then zoom into work after! I've warned my team that I'll be staying late that day as a result. Thanks for the tip, though!
