For the Seattle folks on my friends list

mizkit needs some Seattle cluage... does anyone know whether Blanchett High School is referred to as "Blanchett" or "Bishop Blanchett", which is its full name? Also, how would y'all briefly describe the Maple Leaf or Wedgewood neighborhoods? I've only seen bits and pieces of both, so would like to get other perspectives.

"Blanchett." And I would describe both of those neighborhoods as middle suburbia, or nice residential city; it's the sort of place where you can reasonably expect to be within walking distance of things and yet not have drug deals on the corner.

It's Blanchet (http://www.blanchet.k12.wa.us/) (no second T), by the way. We always just called it Blanchet when I was growing up here.

I like the parts of Maple Leaf that aren't close to Northgate, but otherwise they're really nice. I'm not sure I can briefly describe them.

I got that that's the full name of the school--but I think what Kit was more asking was, is that how people who live in the area and who attend the school refer to it? Do they call it "Bishop Blanchett" in normal conversation? Or just "Blanchett"?

I think it's a bit of both. All of the signs at my bookstore say 'Bishop Blanchet'. There was a girl in today who used our phone to get the telephone number and said 'Bishop Blanchet'. But they probably just say 'Blanchet' in conversation.

It's a nice school, I think, on 85th just east of I5 over a big ol' hill that kills the noise. If you go for Catholic schools. :)
