And oh yeah...
Jan. 6th, 2004 12:17 amI almost forgot to mention that I retired my very first MUSH character from play. That'd be Rillwhisper, on Two Moons MUSH. This is not technically the first time I've retired her; I tried to hand her off to
janne at one point, but that didn't work out, so I took her back. But this time, she's been retired and sent off-camera along with her lifemates Woodhawk and Trollkiller, and
solarbird and I decided upon their likely IC fate. We wanted to send them off into the sunset in a non-angstful sort of fashion, and in such a way as to allow them to come back at some point in the future if we ever decide we want to play them again. I don't see this happening... but it's nice to have that option nonetheless.
I'm also arranging to see about retiring Ree as well. The Plainsrunner tribe on TM is pretty much dead, and I've been discussing what to do about it with both the Staff at large and with the Plainsrunner chief-types. So far the possible plan is to have them migrate eastward off-camera... again, with an eye towards a non-angstful fate that might allow for future resurrection of the tribe if the game ever gets the player base back to support it. But without the Plainsrunners, I don't have too much of a reason to play Ree anymore. Especially not when both I and the player of Ree's lifemate Rumor are pursuing potential writing careers.
This will leave me with Ynderra as my only nominal IC presence on TM, and even she is sort of a non-presence at this point. Since a lot of stuff has been happening at Lostholt (one of the few remaining RP spots on the MUSH) that wouldn't be happening if Ynderra were active, I have taken the liberty of sending her off-camera in search of her long-missing sister Myriel and her equally long-missing lifemate Kai. I may play her some time this year; I don't know yet. I still like Ynderra, as she has an inherently non-angsty attitude despite a lot of angsty things that have happened to her, and if I do any more RP on a MUSH at all I'd like it to be all about the lack of angst.
But we'll see. Right now it all feels kind of weird, but in a somewhat good, tying-up-loose-ends, moving-on-into-a-new-phase-of-life kind of way. And I think it's a mental housecleaning that I really need to do in order to better embrace being a writer.

Sounds like its dying from your description here though :(

Date: 2004-01-06 09:35 am (UTC)It's the only MUSH with which I still maintain any connection at all, though.
And well... yeah, TM's been sort of tottering for a while now. We've got a much smaller playerbase than we used to have, and many of the tribes have gone seriously idle, enough that we're looking at ways to eliminate many of them from play and pull the remaining active characters closer together.
