0. SIXTY THOUSAND WORDS achieved! Wrote 498 words tonight, bringing Chapter 17 up to 1,837 and the word count as a whole up to 60,204.

1. Two, count 'em, two sightings of the Really Cute Tester at work today. The first time he saw me in the lunchroom and smiled, and the second time I was going down the hallway on my way to the kitchen, bouncing with my iPod and Great Big Sea, and he was coming the other way and he smiled and asked me how I was doing. I think he looked amused. And GOSH he's cute. *^_^* Have I swooned enough? Okay done!

2. Mmmmm sushi. [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat, [livejournal.com profile] solarbird, [livejournal.com profile] mamishka and I all went out to sushi tonight, and there was a new chef at I-heart who had apparently only just last month come over to the States from Tokyo. His English was quite limited, but he made up for it by being very friendly and sweet. Plus, he gave us swordfish, which none of us had ever tried before. It was extremely tasty, and sweet, which was very unexpected in sushi!

3. I don't think you all heard me. I said SIXTY THOUSAND WORDS! :D :D :D

Yep, the one on Eastlake.

And if you talk Japanese at him, he gives you slices two inches wide, and batshit insane long. I've never had a bigger serving of nigiri in my life.

No, but he was also completing his first college class in a couple of decades. So he figured if he was writing AT ALL other than homework, he was doing OK! I'll have to ask him if anything readable came of it.

Unfortch, the only Japanese I can claim to know is English loan words -- biru, nekutie, etc. I don't think that would work.

Just add "kudasai" to a noun and boom! instant "please give me" sentence. ^_^

unagi kudasai - unagi, please.

Link words with "to" - long O, as in "toe" - to make the order more complex!

unagi to sake kudasai - unagi and salmon, please

or (to make it clearer)

unagi to sake nigiri kudasai - to make sure you get salmon on rice, two pieces, instead of rice wine. ^_^

It got ten kinds of funny when I told him I was Anna's wife. (And vise versa. ^_^ ) There was amusingly flustered confusion, but then he said, "oooh, you're very, very good friends!" and now that I think about it, I've heard it put that way before by Japanese people. It made me giggle. ^_^

Y'know, I've gotten two kinds of responses from editors, across the board.

1: form letters. Means nothing.

2. positive responses, varying from "I really liked this but it's not for us," to "We'd like to make you an offer."

When I got the "we'd like to make you an offer" I was incoherent for three days. So I'd say, yes, I was just a *little* excited. :)
