So the good news is, this week has been much easier on me in the arm department than last week was.

The REALLY good news is, something important reconnected in the nerves of my hand on my way home from work last night. I was holding my iPod in that hand as I was getting off the bus; I felt one of those "nerve activity" prickles, and happened to switch the iPod to my other hand. As I did, I realized immediately that there was something Different in the feel of my hand, specifically right around the knuckles of my index and middle fingers. It was as if they'd suddenly gotten looser, freer. And my hand felt less lopsided, overall.

Whatever happened seems to also have affected my elbow, which felt significantly better last night as well.

I still don't have proper lift back on the fingers or my thumb (the test of lift on the fingers being putting my hand palm-down on a flat surface and seeing how well I can lift my fingers compared to my left hand), but, the *feel* of the hand is just... better. So it's very encouraging.

On the other hand, I also slept roughly last night and kept waking up, having to rearrange my arm to try to get comfortable. You'd think that if my arm had made a noticeable jump in overall well-being last night, I'd have been able to sleep better. Apparently not. But at least this morning, the only thing that feels amiss is a slight tightness of the muscles around the area of the break.

In related news, on Wednesday night I determined that if I lay back in the corner of the couch and sort of prop my guitar horizontally-ish in my lap, it is *much* easier to play it with my current arm weirdness. I even played "Mari-Mac", and more or less kept up. Overall I played about six or seven songs that night, a couple on the zouk and the rest on the guitar, and DAMN that felt good.

I am really in love with that cream Dara let me use. Especially because I almost cried when I put some on my stiff shoulder last night, it felt so good.

If all this keeps up, pretty soon I'm going to be able to remember what it's like to have two normal, working arms. I anticipate this with almost as much eagerness as I anticipate Master and Commander. ;)

And there goes another ping in my hand. I'm having a LOT of nerve-connect-y heat and pings in my hand as I write this. Go, nerves, go!
