I finally finished it and posted the revised post here.
Status report: very groggy yesterday, kept drifting off on the percocet. Managed to remember to call the unemployment people and tell them what was going on, they said they would need to send me a medical form. Called the last two recruiters I had spoken with at Volt and Excell to let them know I was out of commission. Answered emall from another recruiter who wanted to know if I was free to interview next week... stupid arm.
kathrynt came over and brought me books and a couple of T-shirts that she and
solarbird cut up so that they could put Velcro on them, and I could be dressed for public consumption.
mamishka brought me cake and episodes of the Muppet Show and MST3K. :)
Called my brother to tell him what had happened since I figured he would want to know, and he met my broken arm and raised me "kid #5 is on the way, just found out last week!" Yeesh my brother has a lot of kids.
Dr. Strote called, just because he wanted to check on me, which was good of him, and because he wanted to make sure I got an appointment at the bone & joint center on Roosevelt. He did get me an appointment but there is some uncertainty re: whether it's for Thursday or Friday. He promised to find out and let me know by Monday.
Watched a lot of movies last night, as Turner Classic Movies was doing an amusing "Experiments Gone Awry" marathon. Saw Claude Rains in The Invisible Man and Spencer Tracy and Lana Turner and Ingrid Bergman in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. And part of Donovan's Brain as well.
Today: went back to the med center, also by request of Dr. Strote, for a followup checkup. The nurse practitioner who treated me, Nan Walker, said I needed to keep my arm elevated more to help deal with the swelling in my hand, but that everything seemed fairly normal. And this includes the disconcerting shifting I have been sensing in my arm when I move in certain ways.
So far I haven't had any percocet today, which strikes me as fairly amazing, but so far the ibuprofin seems to be handling the situation.
Have watched some of the Muppet Shows and was very amused by the Greek dance number in the Liberace episode. In the middle of this number one of the pigs yelled out "Love da bouzouki music!" Hee. I need that as a .wav file.
