In an attempt to make up for being laggardly yesterday, I tried to go over my quota today... but couldn't quite make it, partly due to being distracted by having to run errands. Came it at just shy of a new thousand before it got late enough that my brain started going STOP NOW, which is now, so I'm making a note of tonight's word count being 3,614.

In other news, though, I just got a very promising job call this evening from a representative of Volt, one of the local contractor services, who is one of the largest providers of temporary staffing to Microsoft. It seems they have a localization tester position that may be a match for me, though it also seems to be a program manager position in disguise. [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat says this means they apparently don't want to PAY for a PM, but they NEED one, so they're "officially" calling the position a "tester" position. According to the job description it does actually involve SOME testing, but.

Anyway, it's the first hard nibble I've gotten on anything localization-related in some time, so I expressed appropriate interest, sent the Volt rep an updated copy of my resume since she didn't have one, and also sent her a mail outlining the relevance of various bits of my skill set for this particular position. We'll see what happens next.

Also, I should hopefully get a call tomorrow from one of Paul's former freelancing clients in regards to me doing some freelance web work for the site Paul set up for them.

If I actually start working again soon, I may have to cut my daily quota to 500 words. However, I can't honestly say I'd have a problem with that.

It is evidently a common thing to need a Project Manager and be unwilling to pay for one, thus to misuse a different position for that as well. They are complaining about it at my company too (misuse of project managers)

However, yes, that is a Very good reason to change your limits!
