Today, I discovered that I could not in fact call in to file for unemployment because I had forgotten that today was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Doh! I did, however, discover that as per the guidelines up on the WA unemployment site, my work with Nexinfo does not qualify as self-employment. I think this is a good thing, but I will be talking to someone there tomorrow just to make sure.
In the meantime I did some hardcore work on some story notes, thinking that I could tie three of my story concepts together into a cohesive trilogy, maybe, with some work. We'll see where it goes. I made some small progress in figuring things out, but most of what I did was to separate old notes into new files and take some notes on things to research later.
Aside from that, the most interesting note of the day was receiving email in response to the post I'd made on greatbigsea.com to ask for clues pertaining to how one becomes a studio musician. I did, in fact, receive email from one of the studio musicians who'd played on Great Big Sea's last album. ;D Cool, huh? I verified by the email headers that his email did in fact come out of St. John's, Newfoundland, which is where he said he was; moreover, I saw a low bullshit factor in someone claiming to be the random guy that played trumpet on exactly one track of my favorite band's most recent album. Plus, his email was very mannerly, and amiable, and coherently written, and he offered what sounded like reasonable advice. So, yay for randomly cool email. :)
