The Time of the Doctor reaction post!

Dara and I just finished watching “The Time of the Doctor”, a bit behind the rest of the world, but not so late that I can’t get a reaction post up tonight!

Non-spoilery picoreview: I liked this pretty well, but mostly for the sake of getting a lot of pending questions answered. For sheer emotional impact, I think I actually liked the 50th Anniversary special “The Day of the Doctor” QUITE a bit better.

I have always seen Clara as essentially-infatuated with the Doctor (something she alludes to, under the truth field, "this spaceman that I went away with because I fancy...", is I believe the quote), so having her call him and ask him to be her pretend boyfriend is not as far out as it could be, all things considered. Saying that, I was thinking "what? really?" when that happened.

But, yes, Day of the Doctor was more watchable.

I think the Doctor mentions "three centuries" in the episode, so that would be, um, about 20% (I think) of his life spent on Trenzalore.

All in all, I am getting less enthused with the episode the longer it has been since I saw it.

Yeah, and Clara being infatuated with the Doctor (which, yeah, pretty obvious, she even snogged him once) is just another example of "been there done that". If nothing else for the diminished likelihood of that happening again any time soon, I'm glad Capaldi's an older Doctor.

(And I say this as a devout Rose/Ten shipper. I mean, I'm a romantic sucker, but I don't need every single Companion flinging herself at the Doctor. ;) )
