Lesson learned this weekend: if you have to go into the hospital to have complete strangers poke at sensitive portions of your anatomy to take a biopsy, get a painkiller from them when they're done. Because I mean, damn, spending the next forty-eight hours after that all tired and cranky because of the soreness of that part of your anatomy is just stupid. Or, aheh, so I've heard.
(That's how I spent my Friday morning, folks. It was mostly just annoying and a CYA-type procedure I went in for on the recommendation of my doctor. So no real cause for concern. It just made my weekend annoying.)
But on the upside,
solarbird,
spazzkat,
mamishka, and I finally got to see
Stardust. Which I found wonderful, and I hear tell it's been getting compared a lot to
The Princess Bride. I can see that. Now I need to actually read the novel; Paul's got the version illustrated by Charles Vess, which I don't dare take out of the house for fear of damaging its prettiness, so I'll have to maybe swipe one of the purely textual copies in the house for purposes of bus reading. Also, that boy playing Tristan Thorn? Absolutely and utterly swoonable. Especially after his little magical makeover. ;)
Before that, though, I'm a-gonna read me some more Koji Suzuki, because I picked up a copy of
Ring, too. They had it and a few others of his works in the Horror section at Third Place. I look forward to some delicious creepiness. And I'm hoping this coming week and weekend will be less annoying, in no small part because I am highly, and I mean HIGHLY, looking forward to renewing my affection for Mr. Crowe with an outing to
3:10 to Yuma. ^_^
Oh! And it's also worth mentioning that Paul's been re-watching
Macross lately, which is fun for me because of long-ago
Robotech fandom on my part before I even knew the word "fandom". This ties into recent events on the grounds that he just got to the episode where Minmay takes young Hikaru (who I still can't think of as anything but Rick Hunter, especially since I have the name Hikaru indelibly attached to Sulu) back to her hometown... Chinatown, in Yokohama. We were JUST THERE! ^_^
