Paycheck mystery solved

Turns out this is because the hours for that paycheck's week did not get approved in a timely fashion. Bah. This seems to be fallout from the hours in question being for the week that ended in the power outage; the contractors in my group got sent home early on that Friday, so I didn't get to send in my hours on time. I sent them in on Monday after, and usually that's okay, but apparently my manager didn't get to them in time. Probably because he was too busy putting out fires left over from the stupid power outage.

I'd rather have it be this than any of the idiots in our neighborhood having stolen the check--this is, at least, fixable with a little bit of effort, as opposed to being a huge pain in the ass.

I am, however, still perturbed.

And also, the left-hand CTRL key on this keyboard is broken, and it's driving me crazy. I had not before realized how often I use that key.

Addendum, 10:54am: Of course, now I find out that the reason the stupid hours didn't get approved is because I HADN'T SUBMITTED THEM. I had SAVED them in the system, but I hadn't hit the submit button. DOH. *takes out large rubber stamp labelled SPAZZ and hits self on forehead with it*

The good part of this, I suppose, is that I will get two paychecks this weekend.

And I just replaced the malfunctioning keyboard.

On the other hand...

I have also discovered that very sore back + Tiger Balm = significantly less sore back.

Given that my back's been stiff and cranky pretty much ever since I broke my stupid arm--thanks to having had to sleep on my back for months--this is a very welcome discovery. I'm really tired of being stiff and sore. >_<
