A very powerful figure on the Scrabble board

So I went out for a chiropractic appointment this morning, to the office of one Dr. Cynthia Dowell, who had been heartily recommended on the seattle community, as per a post forwarded me by solarbird. Boy, am I glad I did that. My entire body is going "What just happened?" in a sort of bemused but good kind of way, as my muscles are slowly realizing that the underlying bones aren't quite so out of alignment now.

Things I liked about this chiropractor: 1) Very reasonable rates. She does $36 a visit, or $50 for TWO visits, and there is no time limit on when the second visit should be. 2) She had me do a lot of little shifts in position as I was sitting talking to her, as well as getting up and standing in certain ways, so that she could both visually and by touch judge what she thought needed adjusting. 3) Very fast and on the ball. I filled out my paperwork, went back with her to the exam room, chatted a bit, she had me lie down on the table, arrange my assorted limbs, and *CRACK!* Didn't even make me strip. 4) Asked me several knowledgeable questions, and listened to the information I provided her, too. So it was a very satisfying sort of experience; I essentially told her, "this, this, and this have led to the conclusion that my hips are out" and she said, "How about this other thing?" And I said, "Yep!" And she said, "Yep, it's your hips." 5) Very easy to get to from the University District. I just went over on Ravenna, drove several blocks to Greenlake, and there she was right there on the right in a little medical office building.

She's asked me to call her back in a week and see how I feel, and maybe have another adjustment next weekend. And if not that, then the weekend after. She seems to be of the mindset of "let's adjust you a couple of times and see how that goes", which is a much more laid back attitude than "Ohhh, I have to adjust you THREE TIMES A WEEK or else you're completely fucked!"--which is an attitude that my last chiropractor seemed to espouse, and which is kind of annoying, not to mention expensive. ;P

All in all, a good experience. I'd recommend this woman to others. :)
