I have performed frob surgery!
Jul. 4th, 2002 01:15 amFinally got that torx 5 bit screwdriver I wanted from Active Electronics (along with a set that contains T6 up to T20 torxen that you can stick into a changeable handle, just because
imalion has a set like that and I thought it was cool, and hell,
solarbird or I might use the things), this afternoon. Tonight, I performed frob surgery and it seems to have been a success.
Got ten screws out and managed to figure out how to pry the case apart, though it seemed to still be pretty firmly attached and I was reluctant to force it open. Dar discovered an Extra Sekrit Screw underneath the serial number sticker, and once we got THAT out the case came completely apart. And Dar further discovered that my power issue seems very likely to have been caused by a pretty obvious connection coming unsoldered. Maybe in the future one or the other of us will fix that, but right now what I've done is just swap the boards between the frobs (since the old one had a damaged hinge), and now I have a frob again. YAY!
