Six days till Sherwood Forest!

Much to my amusement, spazzkat found Errol Flynn’s Robin Hood movie while channelsurfing tonight, which of course leads me to further squealing over the Russell Crowe one I shall be going to ogle in six scant days!

I am, of course, going next weekend. Folks local to Seattle or points immediately nearby are hereby invited to accompany me! Preliminary checking of showtimes thus far reported tells me that it unfortunately won’t be playing at the two best places downtown, Pacific Place and the Cinerama (the latter of which will of course be running Iron Man 2). Nor will the Neptune or the Metro in the U-district be running it, at least on Thursday, but it’s possible they may have shows show up in another couple of days.

Right now I’m eying the Woodinville theater as the place I’m most likely to go. Unless I hear a lot of enthusiasm for a midnight show I’m aiming for either a Friday or a Saturday show. And since Woodinville seems to be the best locale so far, chances are high of sushi in downtown Bothell pairing up with said film.

Who wants in? Any counteroffers on locations and/or dinner preferences? Sing out, y’all! Robin, Marian, and Allan a’Dayle ain’t gonna ogle themselves! ;)

It's also going to be playing at the Meridian downtown. I have to admit I'd vote for that over Woodinville -- am kind of getting driving fatigue. ;)

Yeah, I saw! The main issue I have with the Meridian is, the place kinda sucks. ;) It's adequate as a theater, but the snack service is very poor--and the snacks themselves are just way too damn big if you want any movie snacks at all.

On the other hand, proximity to Blue C is a major win, so I'm willing to entertain this as a counteroffer if there is sufficient interest and the show times are amenable!

I know what you mean, but it's a difference of nearly 40 miles for me, so it really does make a difference. :)

(well, I should say, the DIFFERENCE is more like 30, since some of that I'd be traveling back home anyway, but it's a long way out of the way in either case.)

yeah, 'twould be. If it ends up being Woodinville, I'd still vote for Friday. Otherwise it becomes a really long haul for a movie that's playing down the hill. :)

I think if we were to do a Saturday Woodinville-based plan, I'd offer to pair it up with other amusements at the Murk to really make it worth your while to come all the way out here. I DO have a bunch of other Russell flicks on DVD that are just begging to be watched to get into the mood. ;)

But! Friday at the Meridian will I think be plan A!

Let me rephrase: Does it not damage the image of the story in your mind with an Australian, mind you a good actor all the same, playing the role that should honestly be played by an Englishmen?

(Of course, I look at the Kevin Costner version and wonder if I'm just biased against Crowe man.)

Um, why in the world should I care about whether someone playing an English character is not English in real life, as long as he is a capable enough actor to believably portray an Englishman?

So, no, it doesn't break the story for me in the slightest. And rather than expound at fangirly length, I will restrict myself to affirming my belief that Mr. Crowe is more than equal to the task. :)
